Mathematical Modeling in Grades 8th – 10th: Building Intercurricular Connections between Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Informational Technologies

Abstract. This article examines the pedagogical and organizational challenges involved in implementing mathematical modeling tasks in school education. It analyzes the role of such tasks as means of connecting abstract mathematical concepts with real-life situations, as well as their appropriate placement within the curriculum—whether in mathematics classes or science lessons. Examples from Bulgarian educational practice is presented, including historical attempts at interdisciplinary integration and current regulatory challenges. The concept of STEM education is proposed as an effective approach to overcoming the lack of synchronization between curricula and to encouraging collaboration among teachers.
