Abstract. The article aims to trace the impact that artificial intelligence has on the contemporary communication paradigm. The relationship between the “large language models” (LLM) and the speech, its sense and the current speech situation is investigated. Elucidation of this relation is revealed by suggesting answers related to the questions of whether artificial intelligence is an unprecedented phenomenon to speech; how artificial intelligence is integrated into a new speech situation; does artificial intelligence disrupt the unity between “word” and “sense”?
