Abstract. The article is dedicated to some cases of desemantization when in the aspect Old Bulgarian word-formation the prefix has only a grammatical function. The linguistic material is collected from dictionaries. The study is interdisciplinary but the main method of research is the linguistic one. The proposed article work analyses for the first time the Wey-Schoneveld effect in the Bulgarian prefix world-formation. The article also proposes approaches to understand the metaphors, connecting common topics between meaning of the prefix and simple verb.
