Absract. The text proceeds from some of the challenges that the current literature curricula for the second high school stage face in the learning and teaching of this component of the subject Bulgarian language and literature – the adequate implementation of the competence approach in literary education,
the thematic organization of literary material, the preservation of conceptual and target continuity of the literary educational process. With the idea of helping to successfully deal with them, the exposition tries to read V. Paskov's „A Ballad for Georg Henig“, in accordance with the competence approach and engaged in both the thematic diversity of the work and its aesthetically specific interpretation.
