Abstract. Current trends in music education in general education are explored in the present paper. Its design defines its aim, objectives and subject matter. From the point of view of the normative framework, emphasis is placed on the presence of B. Bloom’s Taxonomy as fundamental in structuring curricula. Contemporary trends in the development and implementation of the music teaching process in Bulgarian schools, discussed in the publication, are conditionally divided into two aspects - content and technology. In terms of content, the main approaches to music education, its implementation in the context of inclusive education, the application of social-emotional learning (SEL) as well as the concept of the musical sign are presented. Pedagogical solutions that have been explored are related to the use of algorithmic models in for the formation of musical concepts, as well as the Flipped Classroom model. The pros and cons of using ICT in general education are discussed.
