Comets – Part 1

Abstract. The appearance of a bright comet is one of the most beautiful astronomical phenomena, attracting the attention of professionals and amateur astronomers, as well as the media around the world.
Bright comets are relatively rare events – occurring only several times in a human life, which is why they are recorded as important events in the history of astronomy, as well as in human history in general.
This article provides a chronological overview of all the brighter comets that appeared in the last half century. Their photographs, taken by Bulgarian professional and amateur astronomers, are displayed.
