Absract. In the last few decades, Bulgaria has been among the leading countries that lead the charts for the most victims in car crash accidents. Aggressive behavior on the road is due to several factors – dysfunctional traffic control to impose sanctions and to enforce the law in all its severity, poor road infrastructure, poor training of young drivers, poor education in general and dysfunctional awareness of society, for which the most the media is largely to blame because of its manipulative and communicative strategies in the coverage of car accidents in Bulgaria. The present study traces the role of the media in the coverage of such news to the society, as well as a detailed linguistic analysis of the reports, texts and broadcasts reporting on the road accidents.
