The text discusses the development of the Chuzhdoezikovo obuchenie-Foreign Language Teaching Journal as a scientific journal over the 50-year period since its inception. Described are the journal transformations over theyears, conditioned by the development of the Bulgarian science – from a profiledjournal devoted to the issues of Russian and Western language teaching, througha methodological edition on foreign language teaching, to a leading scientificjournal, member of prestigious scientific databases. The reputable internationalscientific editorial board, the strict periodicity of publication, as well as the thematicorganization of each of the issues, provides the necessary conditions for increasingthe scientific value and relevance, and the expansion of the scientific borders of thejournal in future.
