Absract. The article examines the life and professional activity of Stefana Pissareva-Schnitter (1892 – 1944) – a relatively little-known figure in the history of Bulgarian vocational education. Along with the biographical reconstruction,
the place of the educated female elites in the development of vocational education
in Bulgaria is outlined and the transfer of knowledge from Germany to Bulgaria
during the 1920s-1940s is analyzed. The historical approach is applied and unused
primary sources are drawn, including these from private archival collections.
