Absract. The article presents a scientific study on the interest of female football referees in Bulgaria and the society's attitude towards them. Both current and former football referees (girls and women) were subjected to research in order to establish the motives for practicing football refereeing, the aspirations and expectations for personal development and improvement. The method of pedagogical research survey in the form of an online survey was used. The obtained results found uniform results regarding the motivation and expectations of the respondents and diversity
in the answers regarding the interest in women's football refereeing. The difficulties
that women experience in their professional path as football referees are also determined, as well as the reasons for ending a refereeing career.
