Absract. This article introduces Roman Hadjikosev's debut novel, Debelyanov's Diary: The Blue Notebook. Herein, the main creative virtues of the work are demonstrated, including: accepting the challenge of writing a biographical novel about a classic Bulgarian author, whose artistic and personal profiles are extremely stable in the social consciousness; challenging the definition of the genre by incorporating original creative decisions; examining the character system of the novel as an original decision for building Debelyanov's character via the features of
other individual protagonists.
