Abstract. The reform in the social sphere in recent years creates many opportunities for pro-social behavior through volunteering. For students - future social workers, involvement in voluntary activities is an additional means of developing or improving in a practical environment skills formed in an academic environment. The purpose of the present study is to determine the attitudes of the students of the “Social Pedagogy” specialty at the Faculty of Education at Thrace University towards volunteering. Methods: survey to determine students' attitudes; analysis of student opinions about volunteering. The results show that young people identify benefits for different social groups at risk and for themselves as future social workers from being involved in voluntary initiatives during their higher education studies. A training option is also presented, which, in combination with voluntary activities in the social or educational sphere, will help students of the specialty to make an informed choice for their future professional realization.
