Abstract. The text describes the nature and characteristics of wine tourism in the Ruse region. The theory of wine tourism is considered and is there any ground for development in our country. The terminological essence is covered with an emphasis on the interrelationships „tradition – innovation“. Studies related to the production of grapes by areas, distribution of vineyards by regions and areas of vineyards are presented. The wine cellars in the region, the cultivated varieties and the bottled harvests are considered.
